Men Shirt Upcycling

I have this lovely HM shirt for ages now...it doesnt really look good on me but its so cute with its small white&black cats that i cant seem to get rid of it...

so i decided to upcycle it and turn in into something more...wearable.

What will you need:Men’s shirt&Fabric scissors
What to do:Cut off arms, collar and excess bottom (make sure not to cut off the binding of where the sleeve meets the body of the shirt).
Hem all raw ends except for the sleeve ends as there will be binding already there.

And that ´s it!:)

TRASHED trailer (2012) - Environmental documentary with Jeremy Irons

Trashed - No Place For Waste with the participation of Jeremy Irons, looks at the risks to the food chain and the environment through pollution of our air, land and sea by waste. The film reveals surprising truths about very immediate and potent dangers to our health. It is a global conversation from Iceland to Indonesia between the film star Jeremy Irons and scientists, politicians and ordinary individuals whose health and livelihoods have been fundamentally affected by waste pollution. Visually and emotionally the film is both horrific and beautiful: an interplay of human interest and political wake-up call. But it ends on a message of hope: showing how the risks to our survival can easily be averted through sustainable approaches that provide far more employment than the current 'waste industry'.

A must see!
(and Jeremy Irons aaaaaah...)

Shoe Problem...Recycle them!

My mother says ive got a "shoe problem"...in my defence i say that Im just a girl...and girls DO shoes!( and bags and dresses  oops) ...and after i discovered Birkenstock (sigh*) a new "Shoe Era" suddenly revealed to me,so the others just turned totally obsolet,I don’t wear them anymore and never will, so why do I still keep them?I did some research and realised the amazing things we can do with our old shoes, check them out:

-Offer them at Freecycle (a local organization where neighbors share discards and items they no longer need. Visit the freecycle website for more details):http://www.freecycle.org/

-Visit the Nike’s Reuse a Shoe program (a program where old athletic shoes are recycled to make playground material and sports services):http://www.nike.com/us/en_us/c/better-world/stories/2013/05/reuse-a-shoe

-Swap shoes with friends(ehehe)

-Check if your local recycle center have a shoe recycling program...mine dont but probably you'll be luckier

-Soon you´ll also be able to swap discard items like shoes with other items at the Kyosk-Casa das Trocas in Torres Vedras (Portugal).Check their Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/CasaTrocasTorresVedras and website http://www.believeinportugal.info/
-Contact Souls 4 Souls to see how to recycle or donate your used shoes..Souls 4 Souls is a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty.  The organization advances its anti-poverty mission by collecting new and used shoes and clothes from individuals, schools, faith-based institutions, civic organizations and corporate partners, then distributing those shoes and clothes both via direct donations to people in need and by provisioning qualified micro-enterprise programs designed to create jobs in poor and disadvantaged communities: http://soles4souls.org/our-mission
-Visit Recycled Runners to learn about different shoe recycling programs around the world:http://www.recycledrunners.com/
-As for me,i opted to donate them to an homeless shelter,

(staring at the "shoe everest" pile...)

Ps-By the way,now that we are "talkin shoes"just check Shannon Jensen incredible photo work of shoes belonging to refugees who had travelled by foot  across the border from Sudan’s Blue Nile state over to neighbouring South Sudan to escape Khartoum government’s military campaign against Southern liberation movement.
They sure makes us wonder...
